Meet The Writer/Photographer – Darlene

I am a  grandmother.  My grandson is now a five-year=old sweetheart who has wrapped me around his fingers.  I can see now, I will gladly allow him to dictate activities when he is around..  I’m his Grammi.   In addition to being a grandmother of an only grandchild, I also am a mother to an only child – a son.    My husband and I have been married thirty-eight years and counting. We love to ride our motorcycle as often as we can, taking photographs of beautiful Kentucky along the way.

I am the Circuit Clerk in my county, and I freelance part-time from my home office as a writer and a speaker.

  • I serve  as one of 24 Richmond Area Arts Center’s Board of Directors.
  • Member of the Kentucky Circuit Clerks Association.
  • Board Member of the Berea Chamber and a regular member of the Richmond Chamber.
  • I am a member of the board of directors for the Kentucky Circuit Court Clerk’s Association’s Trust for Life – Organ Donation Awareness Program.
  • I am an active member of our local Community Core Response Team – with a focus on the reduction of domestic violence and assisting victims. Local community members working together to deal with the problems and come up with solutions for domestic violence related problems.
  • I love photography.  In fact, the pictures you find on my blog are those that I’ve taken.  I mostly love to take nature shots and of course shots of my handsome family..

You can learn more about my writing passions and some simple things you can do to keep your heritage, and history in some of my blog entries. New pictures are added often, check back soon.

  1. Darlene, I very much enjoyed your site. It appears that you have much to be Thankful for in your life; as most of us do, if only people would realize the many blessings that they have in their life come from their father in Heaven. 🙂 Keep writing!

  2. I hope I can be another son of yours, eventhough I live outside the USA.I appreciate your hard work with the Lord along with your husband.

May the Lord bless you and continue to strengthen the work of your hands along with your husband.

    Blessings +10000000 times

  3. I love your website and its title. I want to start a blog for my writings. I may have some questions. Did you do the work to set it up yourself? I am going to read ALL the stories as I have more time. 🙂

    • Thanks Shirley. Yes, I did it all myself. I’m here to tell you that i wanted to pull out my hair at times, but I perservered. I’d be glad to help you or answer questions anytime. I really enjoy writing and blogging is the perfect way to do it. Give me a call or send an email and I’ll gladly give you some pointers.

  4. Hi Darlene, I was blog hopping and hopped to your blog. I have just read 2 post but will definitely come back to read more.

You are a young grammy! ^_^

  5. Darllene: Just read your blog for the first and enjoyed it. I was really surprised to see a note in one about a Rita Sherrow putting mustard in your hair. I’m a Rita Sherrow in Oklahoma and had never heard of another Rita Sherrow in the U.S. It was so great to know. I’m a reporter and assistant editor at the Tulsa World in Oklahoma. So happy I came across your blog.

    • lol I graduated high school with Rita Sherrow way back in 73. Slumber parties brought out the worst in us – thus the mustard in the hair.
Thanks for stopping by, I love to write, and you know what “they” say, “write what you know.:)
